According to the slovenian maritime law, no boat is allowed to be anchored closer to the shore than 200 meters. Special precaution has got to be given when trying to anchor in the bay of Piran. On the picture of the nautical chart (below) you can see the line crossing the bay. It represents Portorož Fishing Heaven Anchoring is prohibited for all vessels larger than 24 meters.
There are 2 most common winds, that are easy to avoid if you pick the right anchoring place. Both of them are shown on the picture above.
For superyacht anchoring in case of NE wind, locally named “burja”, the best place to pick is between peninsula Bernardin and the city of Piran. Pay atention on the chart, since in that area is the sewage pipe, that runs out to the sea.
For anchoring in case of S-SW winds, localy named “jugo”, the best place to anchor is between the city of Piran and Fiesa.
